Is Your Pet Afraid
of Thunder Storms?
Here is
what you need to know to
help your pet through the stormy
summer season:
|
Firecrackers, thunder and other loud sounds often
leave dogs frightened and scared. These types of fears may develop even
though your pet has had no traumatic experiences associated with theses
sounds. The good news is that many fear-related problems can be
successfully resolved!
Create a Safe Place:
Try to create a safe place for your pet to go to when they hear the
noises that frighten them. Take notice where they go when frightened, and
if at all possible, give access to that place.
Distract Your Pet: Encourage
your pet to engage in any activity that captures their attention when
they are beginning to get anxious. Start when they first alert you to the
noise and are not yet showing a lot of fearful behavior. Immediately try
to interest them by doing something that they really enjoy. For example,
get out the tennis ball and play fetch (in an escape-proof area), or
practice some commands, and then reward with praise and treats for paying
attention to the game or the commands.
As the storm or other noise builds, you may not be
able to keep their attention on the activity, but it might delay the
start of the fearful behavior for longer and longer each time you do it.
If you can't keep their attention and they begin acting scared, stop the
process. If you continue, you may inadvertently reinforce their fearful
behavior.

a storm, read this article from the Humane Society of the United
States.

Pet Paradise Shades Your Pet From the
Harmful Heat.
|
Pets love spending the long, sunny days of
summer outdoors, but being overeager in hot weather can spell
danger. Pets can suffer from dehydration, heat stroke and sunburn if
overexposed to the heat and sun, just like humans. For that reason, Pet
Paradise is taking their attention to pet’s well being a step
further and providing a shaded play area for guests.
Each resort will now have an aluminet covered
play area that reflects unwanted sunlight and harmful heat during these
hot summer months providing a cool, shaded area for your pets to play. In
addition, the indoor/outdoor suites are also covered as an extra
precaution to keep your pets cool as they enjoy the outdoors. Whatever
your pets needs, Pet Paradise goes to any length, or "height"
to protect them.
