Update: The 1^st Annual Food for Paws pet food drive raised 8,000 pounds of food in 2 weeks in our 3 markets! We were able to help local animal welfare groups in need and help pet owners in need.

Our Goal for next year’s food drive: 10,000 pounds!

In these tough economic times, local animal welfare/rescue groups are hurting for donations. While their donations are decreasing, their demand is increasing because people can no longer afford to take care of their pets.

In the spirit of the holidays, Pet Paradise is launching the 1st annual Pet Paradise Food for Paws pet food drive in 3 of its largest markets:

Jacksonville, FL
Houston, TX
Charlotte, NC

With a minimum donation of a 20lb bag of pet food, you will receive a complimentary night of boarding (offer valid 1/6/2010 – 4/6/2010). Our local partners in each market are also seeking additional items as well, so please make sure you review their wish lists!

We have identified 3 partner organizations, see below, in these locations to help collect and distribute the food to those in need. We will be serving as a collection point and encourage everyone to stop by and donate before December 19th.

Jacksonville, FL residents

We have teamed up with the Jacksonville Humane Society who will be working with a local partner to identify pet owners in need of assistance and distribute the pet food to them.

Jacksonville and surrounding community residents are encouraged to donate pet food and supplies to Pet Paradise Resort locations in Jacksonville during normal business hours. The resorts are located at 5140 University Blvd and 14272 Pecan Park Road.

The Jacksonville Humane Society, founded in 1885, serves more than 4,000 animals each year. JHS is a non-profit, no-kill center for animal welfare and education that serves as a resource for all companion-animal related issues. The organization is dedicated to finding loving, permanent homes for animals by matching people with the pet that is right for them.

Houston, TX residents

We have teamed up with Rescue Bank^SM and Whole Foods Market. Houston and surrounding community residents are encouraged to donate pet food and supplies to Pet Paradise Resort locations in Houston during normal business hours. The Pet Paradise Resorts are located at 7511 Monroe Rd and 14500 John F. Kennedy Blvd.

About Rescue Bank^SM:

The Rescue Bank^SMcommunity includes more than 70 non-profit, independent animal rescue, rehabilitation, foster, and adoption groups located throughout the Gulf Coast and East Texas. These smaller groups are run by volunteers providing extensive hands-on help for abandoned, abused, or injured animals. Rescue Bank^SM's mission is to help them source much-needed supplies, grants, and services so that they can improve their standard of care.

Whole Foods Pet Food Drive – December 12th

On December 12th from Noon – 4pm all Houston area Whole Foods Market’s locations will be accepting donations for the Food for Paws pet food drive! The Whole Foods Market’s are located at:

Charlotte, NC residents

We have teamed up with the Charlotte-Macklenburg Animal Care & Control and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina as a drop off location for the ongoing pet food bank effort.

Charlotte and surrounding community residents are encouraged to donate pet food to Pet Paradise Resort located at 2919 Boyer Street during normal business hours.
